Medical Terminology Program Description

The length of this course is 80 hours and covers introduction to medical terminology then continues in the building of medical terms related to all of the body systems. Use of the medical dictionary and other resource books are included. The student will practice interpretation of medical reports at the end of the course.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the program, the participant will:

• Identify key parts of medical terms (prefix, root, and suffix).
• Match anatomical structures and systems to medical roots.

• Learn to navigate, identify symbols, and use the medical dictionary and other resource books.

• Learn the correct documentation standards and criteria for various medical reports.

• Be able to appropriately define medical terms by dissecting the term into its various parts.
